Voice commands let you recover from a mistake or move to another part of the script while your hands stay off the controls. They use the same microphone and recognition as voice-activated scrolling, so set that up first.
Turn voice commands on
On Android
Open Settings → Teleprompter Settings → Voice control options → Voice Commands. The same option is available from the teleprompter’s Settings (gear) button.
Use a wake word and a command
Say the wake word and action as one phrase. In English, the three basic commands are:
| Say | Does |
|---|---|
teleprompter restart | Returns to the start |
teleprompter back | Moves backward |
teleprompter forward | Moves forward |
On Android
Commands are localized to the selected voice language, so in another language the wake word is not “teleprompter”. Open the in-app Voice Commands list to see the exact three phrases for the language you are recording in.
Mobile commands use one precise trigger for each action and move backward or forward by paragraph.
Say the whole phrase together
Keep the wake word and action together without a long pause: “teleprompter back,” not “teleprompter … back.” Only the latest part of your speech is checked, which prevents a wake word from much earlier in the script triggering a command later.
Test before recording
Try all three commands during a practice run. On mobile, confirm that the selected voice language matches the phrases you are using.
If nothing happens
Background noise affects commands and scrolling in the same way. Check the microphone, language and voice-scrolling setup before changing how you speak.
