The short answer
These two products want the same thing: a teleprompter that follows your voice, without an account, without a rig, and without sending your audio anywhere. VoicePrompter got there first, and it still has the wider reach — a native Mac app and years of public history VoiceCue does not have yet. Where VoiceCue pulls ahead is everything around the prompting: real document import rather than clipboard pasting, an optional synced script library, a basic editor after the take, and offline voice following that held up in our testing where VoicePrompter’s did not.
Where they differ
3 differences. Everything else, they both do. Not documented means VoicePrompter publishes nothing either way. See all 24 audited features.
Offline voice following ✓ VoiceCue: Android ✗ VoicePrompter: No in testing
AI script generation and editing ✓ VoiceCue: Yes – VoicePrompter: Not documented
Document import ✓ VoiceCue: 5 formats ~ VoicePrompter: Paste / clipboard
Choose VoiceCue if…
- You work from existing documents. VoiceCue imports PDF, DOCX, RTF, Markdown, TXT and URLs; VoicePrompter is built around pasting from the clipboard.
- You want the same script library on more than one device, and you are willing to make an account to get it.
- You need offline voice following that actually works — advertised offline tracking did not function for us in VoicePrompter testing.
- You want to trim and clean the recording without leaving the app.
- You want an AI writer for first drafts. VoicePrompter does not currently advertise one.
Choose VoicePrompter if…
- You want a native Mac app — VoiceCue has no desktop product.
- You want your scripts to never leave the device at all. VoicePrompter has no cloud library by design; VoiceCue’s sync is optional but it exists.
- You prompt on a Mac and want a native window that can stay invisible to screen capture.
- You want a product with a public track record. VoicePrompter reports 23,000+ creators; VoiceCue’s apps are new and have no comparable review history.
